What's new?

Here are some of the little milestones worth celebrating and sharing that have been part of my academic journey over the years.

24th June 2023. Completed a three-month research visit at the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit, University of Oxford, UK exploring habitat suitability tools to study small cats in India.

4th May 2023. Participated in the workshop on "An Introduction to Occupancy and N-mixture Models" by Chris Sutherland from the University of St. Andrews at the University of Oxford.

27th - 30th March 2023. Attended and presented poster at the Student Conference for Conservation Science in Cambridge, UK.

24th March 2023. Wrapped up PhD field work in Dudhwa and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, UP collecting faecal samples to understand multispecies carnivore connectivity

11th March 2023. Participated in the GEF UNDP Strategic workshop aimed at scientific implementation of the small cat project in Dudhwa National Park.

28th November 2022. Kickstarted my PhD fieldwork from Dudhwa National Park along with my field team.

20th October 2022. Findings of my recent study (Rana et al. 2022) on fishing cat prioritization were covered in the media.

22nd – 26th August 2022. Participated and presented at SCB's 6th European Congress for Conservation Biology 2022, held in Prague, Czech Republic.

23rd June 2022. My very first first-author paper on fishing cat prioritization has been published!

16th June 2022. Awarded the Panthera Small Cat Action Fund grant as a returning grantee to explore fishing cat population connectivity in the Indian Terai.

May 2022. Participated in the Landscape Genetics Distributed Graduate Seminar held virtually from January – May 2022.

13th -17th December 2021. Participated and presented at the virtual SCB's 30th International Congress for Conservation Biology 2021.

01st September 2021. Joined Prof. Uma Ramakrishnan's Molecular Ecology Lab at NCBS as a graduate student!

30th August 2021. Completed a 7-month research consultancy for WWF India on a project titled “Conserving Connectivity in multi-use landscapes, Wildlife Connect Project, Central Indian Landscape”. 

11th January 2021. Graduated with a Masters in Wildlife Biology from NCBS, Bangalore.

9th -11th November 2020. Participated and presented at the virtual Student Conference for Conservation Science in Bangalore 2020.
